Osprey nest next to the dock is active. I went over there today around 4:30, saw one parent and large chick on nest. Chick was eating. Chick finished and jumped up on one of the supports, then down, then parent took off. I hung around over an hour hoping parent would return but finding food for an osprey kid isn't like going to the grocery store! No fresh fish vendors at the corner, either. It was really windy and more clouds came in so I left at 6:30, saw a nice rainbow on the way home. Adult is the one on the right in this shot. Chick was still eating a bit. Chick jumping down from the post in this shot. Chick with wings still spread. Parent took off soon after that bit of exercise. At one point before I left the chick was on the left support post for a while, then flew aournd in a short loop over the water. I plan to go back there with hopes of seeing at least 1 parent bring in some food. Very nice place to sit at a table, easy to hold camera, etc., while watching the nest.

very nice shots...These birds are fun to watch...They really are protective and hard working...
Did you take a photo of the rainbow? If you did would love to see it!
