One thing I learned when I moved here was that I had to get used to snakes. They're everywhere, particularly in the Spring and Fall. I've had them outside my front door, outside my back door, wrapped around my fountain in the backyard and I even had a huge (around 6') eastern diamondback in my front yard. You do need to respect them, but they're interesting to photograph. This snake was so busy eating that he wasn't a threat to me at all. It's when you meet up with the venomous ones unexpectedly that they can pose some danger. Here's a good link for Florida snake ID's: www.flmnh.ufl.edu/herpetology/FL-GUIDE/onlineguide.htm
