Hi Guys.... I am Ira Runyan and I reside on Florida's East Coast in Brevard County. Hope you don't mind my intruding on your Citrus County Nature Photography Forum, but I want to become acquainted with Bird & Nature photographers from all around the country. I am a beginner in Digital Wildlife Photography, being at it for a little over a year now, although years ago I did Wildlife photography using a 35mm film camera. I am the administrator of the Florida Wildlife and Nature Photographers Forum, of which Robert and Maureen are members, and that is how I learned of your forum. Robert and Maureen are first class wildlife photographers and will serve you well. It's my understanding that you are planning on taking some field trips, and if by chance any of them are over here on the east coast, please don't hesitate asking me for directions to some of our birding locations. This is an American Kestrel I found today in Brevard County....

Hi Ira! Glad you could join us! I'll look forward to your participation.
Your shots of the kestrel are wonderful. I've run around in circles more than once trying to get a decent shot of one of these.
I will be heading your way for another fun day at Viera next week. And I'm really hoping that the space shuttle is launched when scheduled so that I can get a few shots of that as well. The last time I went over there, I had to leave at 4:30 in the morning and ended up hitting my friend's car on the way out of my driveway. Hopefully this trip I'll be a little more awake and skip the drama before leaving.

Actually, learning how to approch wildlife and getting close enouth for a shot with a point and shoot camera will make you a better wildlife photographer when you do get a DSLR camera. Even with the fancy DSLR camera and the largest lens you can buy, getting close to your subject is the how you get the best photographs.
