I went to Paynes Prairie last January, the north end has the cranes and gators. Very interesting walk out to the observation tower. There are some shots of the cranes and gators on my website. I definitely want to go back when it cools down. Heard there is an aerie near the visitors center at the south end (after I left there, naturally). All in all it can make for an day if you start at one end and work your way to the other.
