This guy was in my backyard................
The Cardinal and birdbath were in the sunlight. The background was very dark green vegetation under heavy shade of an oak tree 8' behind the bird. I set the ISO to 200 and took the photo at 1/160 Sec at f8 -1EV (Metering Mode = Pattern).
The Cardinal was well exposed but the camera sensor could not see the dark background and recorded it as black.
