She's almost lost in the resurrection fern. Like many mothers she's sleeping with one eye open. The male was watching over her from a nearby tree.
I've modified this post to add a photo of the male sitting high in an oak tree. He may look sleepy but with every sound one eye would pop open for a brief second.
